.MADISON -- There was bizarre twist to a weekend house fire in Madison that destroyed a family’s dream. It may have been intentionally set because the owner is a registered sexual offender.
Bill Corbett, 24, desperately wants his neighbors to see the family man side of him.
Instead, some of them found his picture when they logged onto Lake County’s sexual offender website. “You got rumors running around,” Corbett said. “I’m a child molester, stuff that never even happened.”
When Bill was 18, he was convicted of raping a man. But before he was sentenced, new evidence cleared him and the case was thrown out.
He did however, plea to a lesser charge of gross sexual imposition and was labeled the least serious sexual offender. ..more.. Jennifer Murphy
