HOUSTON - A father was arrested at a high school Monday where he allegedly stabbed a boy he thought had witnessed a sexual assault against the man's daughter.

Both of the girl's parents were in a security area outside the main campus of Wunsche High School north of Houston when the father saw the boy and stabbed him three times with a knife, district spokeswoman Karen Garrison said.

"A campus police officer was nearby when the incident occurred and very quickly intervened and arrested the man," Garrison said. Since the assault occurred just outside the main doors, other students were not nearby, she said.

The stabbing victim was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

The parents were at the school to talk to administrators about the alleged assault of their daughter, which they reported over the weekend.

Garrison said the sheriff's department is still investigating that alleged assault of the girl; a call to the sheriff's department was not immediately returned Monday evening.

The father, identified as Ruben Carlos Cuellar, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. There were no records Monday afternoon to indicate whether he had an attorney. ..more.. by Yahoo News

Lawyer says angry father may have stabbed wrong boy

HOUSTON - The distraught father accused of stabbing a boy he believed was a witness to a sexual assault on his daughter may have attacked the wrong person, the boy's attorney said Tuesday.

The 17-year-old high school junior spent the weekend with his parents and did not attend the party where the sexual assault allegedly took place, attorney Fernando Valdes said.

CA- 60 protest at sex offenders' home

In violation of the state's registry law these people protest, and police do nothing: "290.46(l) (1) A person is authorized to use information disclosed pursuant to this section only to protect a person at risk. (2) Except as authorized under paragraph (1) or any other provision of law, use of any information that is disclosed pursuant to this section for purposes relating to any of the following is prohibited: (A) Health insurance. (B) Insurance. (C) Loans. (D) Credit. (E) Employment. (F) Education, scholarships, or fellowships. (G) Housing or accommodations. (H) Benefits, privileges, or services provided by any business establishment."

About 60 people protested outside a residential care facility near Gardena on Saturday where organizers say several sex offenders have been living.

Although the home's operators are not breaking any laws, critics say the home is too close to family homes in the 15000 block of Sandel Avenue.

"My grandmother lives there," said Jasmine Cannick, who grew up in the the unincorporated area east of Gardena. "She was concerned. She's 87. I'm concerned for her."

Cannick said the house was put up for sale about a year ago, and someone recently leased it and turned it into a boarding facility earlier this year.

"The problem is they have six people living there, and they never informed the neighborhood."

A couple of Los Angeles sheriff's deputies were on hand, but there was no trouble at the protest, Cannick said.

"It was good because even in 90-degree weather, you had seniors out there," Cannick said. "The neighborhood doesn't want them. Something needs to be put on the books on how to notify people."

Cannick said that while the home is not near a school or park, having sex offenders live there is not appropriate because most of the residents are elderly or have children.

"It's prime pickings for people who want to establish a group home. But you have people raising families. Kids are always outside playing."

A similar protest occurred last month at a Carson hotel where about 30 paroled sex offenders had moved.

That group demanded that state officials remove the men from the house.

A March Daily Breeze investigation revealed that state officials had been housing the offenders at the 60-unit Carson Plaza Hotel because it meets Jessica's Law requirements that they live at least 2,000 feet from parks, residences and schools.

The state paid $80 a day to the hotel manager for renters to stay at the facility.

At the March protest, Carson Councilman Mike Gipson said he wanted every sex offender to leave town.

"They won't do this in Beverly Hills. It won't happen in Simi Valley," Gipson said.

CT- Sex Offender Sues Neighbors, Claims Harassment

BOLTON — - Michael Grimaldi cannot escape his past, but he can get out of Bolton.

That's what his neighbors Lori and Thomas Paggioli have been working toward, Grimaldi claims in a federal suit he and his family filed this week. And the town of Bolton has played a role, too, the Grimaldis and their lawyer say.

Grimaldi, 49, is on the state's sex offender registry for a sexual encounter with a baby sitter in 1995, but he and his family put the matter behind them, moving to Bolton to build what they thought would be their final home and base for their flooring business.

But for the last four years, the suit claims, their neighbors — one of whom works in town hall — have waged a campaign of harassment, including, they say, cutting down their maple tree and dumping truckloads of chicken manure near their home, creating a black fly infestation last summer.

Lori Paggioli, 44, faces a breach of peace charge in Superior Court in Rockville for saying to Michael Grimaldi during a boundary dispute last March, "If you so much as look at my kids, I will kill you," witness affidavits say. The court has twice denied her bid for accelerated rehabilitation.

In the suit filed Monday in U.S. District Court in New Haven, the Grimaldis accuse the Paggiolis of "extreme and outrageous" conduct that has deprived them of protections under the Constitution and federal and state laws. The suit also names the town of Bolton for subjecting them to "a different standard of enforcement of municipal regulations than that imposed upon any other town residents."

CO- Father of sexual predator: Son wants to go back to prison

The father of a Longmont man designated by the state as a "sexually violent predator" said his son intentionally violated the terms of his parole so he could go back to prison and fight the label.

Sean Christopher Jackson, 22, turned himself in at the Boulder County Jail on Wednesday after staying out drinking with his friends four hours past his 7:30 p.m. curfew Tuesday, according to his father, Dwight Jackson.

Sean Jackson is being held at the jail without bond, and a court hearing had not been set in his case Thursday.

Dwight Jackson said his son, who was living at the family’s Longmont home, at 1706 Lashley St., following his release from prison earlier this year, has received several threats and didn’t feel safe living outside of prison anymore.

“There were two separate instances where guys were staring him down,” Dwight Jackson said. “He decided he’d be safer in jail.”

Sean Jackson had been wearing a GPS-monitoring device as another condition of his parole, and received a call from his supervising officer shortly before midnight Tuesday telling him to surrender to authorities the next day, his father said.

AR- BCSO arrests man for identity theft

12-31-2005 Arkansas:

BENTON COUNTY - A routine traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a Siloam Springs man who allegedly stole more than $20,000 through credit-card and tax fraud, according to a news release from the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

Charles Robbins, an investigator with the BCSO Drug Interdiction Team, stopped Matthew Buescher, 35, on Wednesday. Buescher was initially arrested for driving on a suspended license.

When an inventory of the vehicle was done, Robbins discovered a backpack in the back seat. The backpack contained several file folders and credit cards with different names. The file folders contained personal identification information obtained over the Internet via University of Arkansas computers. The identification information was of people from Indiana who had either been convicted or accused of sexualrelated crimes. Another file contained credit-report information on several people.

After Buescher was taken to the Sheriff's Office, he told Criminal Investigation Division investigator Jeremy Felton he had obtained the personal information to apply for and receive bank accounts, including credit cards.

It was discovered in another file folder found in the backpack that Buescher had filed several false tax returns with the state of Iowa for the purpose of defrauding the government out of thousands of dollars in tax refunds. Those refund checks would be sent to vacant houses and picked up at a later time, or the funds would be deposited electronically into false bank accounts.

In all, Buescher indicated he stole around $20,000. Buescher also said most of the money was used for gambling in Oklahoma.

Buescher is being held in the Benton County Jail awaiting a bond hearing for the charge of financial identity fraud, a class C felony. The crime is punishable by imprisonment of up to 10 years and a $10,000 fine. ..more.. by Jennifer Turner Staff Writer jennifert@nwanews.
