BAKERSFIELD - A local man, whose home nearly went up in flames Wednesday morning, said the fire was no accident. Nelson Roscoe believes he was targeted because of his criminal past. He said he woke up early Wednesday morning to find his house burning.
“I smelled the strong smell of gasoline and it kept getting stronger and stronger, so I got up,” said Roscoe. He adds, “There was fire all around me and I just ran.” Fire crews are calling the blaze suspicious, and Roscoe insists he was attacked because of his status as a registered sex offender.
The Megan's Law website confirms Roscoe was once convicted of wo felonies in the 1980's and served 18 months for his crime. Arson investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire. ..more.. by KGET TV
