5-19-2014 Florida:
A 51-year-old homeless man is recovering after he was severely beaten early Saturday morning.
His alleged assailant told investigators he spotted the man peeping in his girlfriend’s bedroom window and chased him down, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
Kenneth Lamar Fuller, who has no known address, was flown to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola with extensive head injuries, including sinus and orbital fractures, a skull fracture and multiple jaw fractures, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies identified Richard Hanchett, 24, as the assailant. Hanchett said he walked outside his girlfriend’s home on Soles Lane sometime after 3 a.m. and spotted Fuller looking in the window.
According to Hanchett, Fuller tried to flee on his bicycle. Hanchett said he chased him down and knocked him off. He told deputies he was trying to hold Fuller down but that Fuller was attacking him and trying to get away so he started hitting him.
Hanchett had no visible injuries, the report said.
He was charged with felony battery and booked into the Okaloosa County Jail. On Sunday, he was released, according to jail records.
At last word, according to the sheriff’s office, Fuller was in the hospital’s intensive care unit, but his condition had stabilized. ..Source.. by Lauren Sage Reinlie
