Jared Fogle Beaten and Bloodied in Prison Yard Ambush

3-16-2016 Colorado:

Jared Fogle, 39, got a surprise beatdown in federal prison from an inmate who has major issues with child molesters ... TMZ has learned.

According to docs, Fogle got jumped in the rec yard at Englewood prison in Colorado back on January 29, and it was not much of a fight. An inmate named Steven Nigg pushed Fogle down and then unloaded a barrage of punches to his face.

Nigg, who's in for a weapons charge, left Fogle with a bloody nose, swollen face and scratches on his neck. 60-year-old Nigg was also injured -- a small cut on his left hand from delivering the whuppin'. Prison officials put Nigg in solitary as punishment.

We spoke to Nigg's family and they're not surprised. We're told Steven's pissed because so many child sex predators are housed in the low security facility, and Fogle was just the last straw.

Man charged for attacking sex offenders greeted as a hero by some

8-3-16 Alaska:

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) It's not often that someone handcuffed, in shackles, and facing a Superior Court judge on felony assault and robbery charges is greeted as a hero. But Jason Vukovich was last week, at least by some from a distance.

Little about the case against him is ordinary.

The 41-year-old is accused of using the state government sex offender registry to find his alleged victims, three men previously convicted of sex offenses ranging from possession of child pornography to attempted sex abuse of a minor. All three served prison terms but were still required to report their home and work addresses.

Prosecutors claim, over a five-day stretch in June, that Vukovich tracked the men down at their homes and used a hammer to threaten, assault, and rob them.

After his arrest, the defendant penned a letter to Alaska Dispatch News saying he had been physically and sexually abused as a child and described himself as an "avenging angel."

Some who read the initial story and subsequent news coverage have reacted with condemnation, saying he was a vigilante acting outside the law, deserving a lengthy jail term for attacking people who already served time for their crimes. But many more said things like this: "You are my hero." ... "Give the man an award. If there is a child molester, that individual should be shot and killed." ... "You'll get much respect inside for sure, and on the outside when you're done."

Sex offender target of ‘harassment,’ public defender says

11-19-16 Wisconsin:

ELLSWORTH -- A Pierce County court commissioner clamped down on a convicted sex offender’s bail conditions, but not as tightly as prosecutors sought, at a hearing last week.

Pierce County Assistant District Attorney Rory O’Sullivan unsuccessfully requested Court Commissioner Jorv Gavic to hold Cameron J. Doman in jail while he awaits trial. Gavic denied the request during the Thursday, Nov. 10, hearing after Liesl Nelson, attorney manager for the State Public Defender’s Office, expressed outrage at the chain of events leading up to the hearing.

Doman, a 25-year-old convicted sex offender, was charged with new felony sex crimes involving child enticement after an Aug. 23 incident near Glen Park in River Falls. He was jailed and released on a signature bond.

Last week’s hearing stemmed from an incident on Sept. 15 near Grimm Hall on the UW-River Falls campus.

YMCA bans man from road race for being registered sex offender

11-10-16 Connecticut:

Mystic — The Ocean Community YMCA banned a Groton man from running in its popular Tarzan Brown road race last weekend after it discovered he was listed on the state’s sexual offender registry.

The man, Jeffrey Roy, had run in previous editions of the race but this year when he preregistered for the race, his name was flagged as being on the registry for his role, along with two other men, in the 2006 sexual assault of an intoxicated 14-year-old girl at his mother’s home in Mystic.

The YMCA’s decision to ban him led his father, Jim, a well-known local runner who headed the successful effort to erect the John Kelley statue on West Main Street, to cancel his membership at the YMCA and criticize YMCA officials for their decision. Other runners and friends sent letters and emails to YMCA officials asking them to reverse their decision before last Sunday’s race.

Jim Roy, who has run in almost all of the previous 40 Tarzan Brown races and had registered for the event, skipped the afternoon race and instead ran the course with his son and about 20 friends in the morning. He stressed in an email to running friends that it was not being done as protest and he did not want them to boycott the race.

Fire breaks out at home of sex offender who is feuding with neighbors

11-24-16 Alabama:

An investigation is underway after a Thanksgiving morning fire damaged the home of a convicted sex offender who has been in a running feud with his neighbors.

Center Point firefighters responded about 9:15 a.m. to the 10th Street home of Raymond Kyle Martin, 27. The first unit on the scene reported smoke coming from the roof, and firefighters who arrived later said there was fire on the back side of the home.

It wasn't immediately clear whether anyone was inside at the time the fire erupted. Martin lives there with his mother, Tammy McCullers, his newborn and other family members. Martin, however, was not home at the time of the fire because he is back in the Jefferson County Jail after being arrested Wednesday on a harassment charge, jail records show.

Center Point Fire Battalion Chief Brad Appleton said only that the fire was under investigation and that there were no injuries. The fire marshal, however, was on the scene and could be seen collecting evidence from the bottom of the home's back door.

Lawsuit: California Breaking Law On Sex Offender Website, Leading To Vigilante Violence

11-10-16 California:

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – California is breaking the law by failing to include updates about sex offenders on its Megan’s Law website, leading some offenders to be targeted by vigilantes, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday.

The suit filed by two offenders says the California Department of Justice has not updated the sex offender registry to include the dates offenders were convicted and released from prison. That has been required under state law since 2010.

The information is important so citizens can better gauge if an offender is an immediate threat, said Janice Bellucci, president of the advocacy group California Reform Sex Offender Laws. The website includes a current photo and home address for offenders, no matter how old the crime.

“Most people jump to the conclusion that it must have happened recently,” she said. “We have people who have been on the registry for 50 years or more.”

Man charged with assaulting 3 in Anchorage after finding addresses on sex-offender registry

7-28-16 Alaska:

A man charged with using a hammer to attack a registered sex offender in Anchorage last month now faces additional charges for assaulting two other men listed on the public sex-offender registry.

According to a recent bail memorandum, Jason Vukovich, a self-styled "avenging angel" according to one of the victims, carried a notebook with a list of names, including Charles Albee, Andres Barbosa and Wesley Demarest. Over five days in June, he entered the homes of the three men, uninvited, and hit them, sometimes with his fists and sometimes with a hammer. He also stole from them, said the bail memorandum signed by assistant district attorney Patrick McKay.

Vukovich told police that he targeted his victims based on their listings on Alaska's sex-offender registry, the memo says. The online registry includes their home addresses, employer addresses and convictions.

Neighbor puts up billboard to shame sex offender into moving

11-14-16 Alabama:

ROBINWOOD, Ala. - Jeb Lessley had a billboard made to pressure a registered sex offender to move. It shows Raymond Martin’s mugshot and lists his address and charges including second-degree rape and sodomy for a 2013 conviction involving an underage girl.

Martin and his family want to see the billboard taken down. He lives across the street from it.

“There’s people that already know my circumstances,” he told CBS 42. “They can find it on the website, but it ain’t got to be broadcast. There’s more than one sex offender that lives here.”

Martin estimates that there are more than a dozen registered sex offenders living in the neighborhood. It’s a statistic that the man who actually bought the sign backs up.

“The reason I posted the billboard is because he has been a thorn in my side since he moved into this house,” explained Lessley. Lessley said that Martin first started worrying him when he tried to talk to Lessley’s children. He has six kids, ranging from a newborn to 14 years old.

Woman allegedly stabs accused child molester

11-21-16 Montana:

A Great Falls woman is accused of stabbing a man suspected of sexually abusing children.

Tracy Lynn Bossie is charged with one count of assault with a weapon, a felony, for allegedly stabbing Wallace Bossie Jr. on Saturday. She made her initial court appearance Monday on a $200,000 arrest warrant.

Charging documents say Tracy Bossie pulled up to Great Falls Fire Station 1 Saturday with her horn blaring. Firefighters made contact with her, the report says, and saw that she had multiple injuries to both arms and was covered in blood.

Documents say she told the firefighters she stabbed someone, specifically Wallace Bossie Jr., because he had been recently charged with sexually assaulting children. She also told them she stabbed him multiple times in the neck and back, and that she thought he was dead, documents say.

Smiley face tattoo, beating leads to two arrests

A smiley face tattoo and a man with blood on his hands were key pieces of evidence that led the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) to arrest two persons this week in a case that involved a savage beating of a man accused of child abuse.

James Don Mulvihill, 311 B.B. Beard Road, Monterey, age 59, was charged Tuesday with four counts of molestation of a juvenile.

The man charged with the beating -- Stanley Vernon Schickel, 44, 218 Bailey Circle, Ferriday – was charged Sunday with false imprisonment, attempted second-degree murder and a probation hold.

CPSO spokesman Vernon Stevens said this morning that officers began to unravel the bizarre case Sunday when they responded to a call to pick up a debit card in the possession of a person living on B.B. Beard Road. Upon arriving at the residence, officers observed a man – identified as Schickel -- emerge from the house with blood on his hands and clothes.

Caught on Camera: Child Molester Gets Beaten Terribly in Jail

9-7-16 Arkansaw:

The video is surveillance footage from the Washington County Jail where an alleged child molester named Kelly Holloway, Mary Reynaga’s brother, gets beaten up by four inmates.

Reynaga is interviewed as saying that she thinks they put people like that – referring to Willis – in isolation if they know they’re a danger to somebody. Holloway was sent to the hospital with a broken nose, where he received ten stitches and four staples. Reynaga said it’s like they allowed the assault to happen the whole time, like somebody could be watching it, because all three inmates attacked him and no one came to his aid until after Holloway was already injured.

The sheriff’s office says one of the inmates had found out that Holloway was being held on a child molestation charge, by tracking a pin number printed on his bracelet. Chief Deputy Sheriff Jay Cantrell is interviewed as saying he can be a target particularly if it’s a child victim involved, as some inmates might dish out some form of vigilante justice.

Cantrell says the guards did not notice the attack until after it was over. The guards can see into the pod and the monitors show what the cameras are pointed out, but they are monitoring so many cameras that things can get out of hand pretty quickly before the guards can be alerted.

Reynaga says her brother is innocent until proven guilty and he should have been protected until his court day. She adds that they have cameras, so someone should have been monitoring things. Cantrell says the sheriff’s office is stepping up efforts to make sure pin numbers stay private. But with limited resources, stopping every fight is just not possible.

Two felony count of child sexual abuse and a misdemeanor charge of threatening to do violence against Holloway were eventually dismissed when a teenage victim could not testify. ...Source.. by

'Alaskan Avenger’ Jason Vukovich Used Sex Offender Registry To Track Then Beat Child Sex Offenders [Video]

8-31-16 Alaska:

His name is Jason Vukovich, but they call him the “Alaskan Avenger.” His M.O.? Tracking down Alaskan sex offenders using the Anchorage public online sex offender registry. Once he found what he was looking for, Alaskan Avenger Jason Vukovich reportedly showed up at their respective homes in the middle of the night, hammer in hand, to mete out his own particular brand of justice. According to law enforcement, the reign of the Alaskan Avenger only managed to stretch across a few days in June. That’s because Jason Vukovich eventually got busted for busting in the heads of convicted sex offenders with his trusty hammer and fists.

According to New York Daily News, Alaskan Avenger Jason Vukovich also robbed his three victims.

One of Jason Vukovich’s victims, Wesley Demarest, told the local media that he had been sleeping in bed when the Alaskan Avenger broke into his home. Reportedly, his roommate woke him to tell him that there was a stranger in the house, and shortly thereafter, Vukovich began beating him in the head severely enough with a hammer to fracture his skull.

Protesters outside Brock Turner’s home leave messages scrawled in chalk

9-3-16 Ohio:

UPDATE @ 9:15 p.m. (Sept. 2): Members of the Sugarcreek Twp. Fire Department are are using fire hoses to clean chalk-written messages off the sidewalk, driveway and the street in front of the Brock Turner residence in Sugarcreek Twp.

The words that were scrawled included “rapist” and the following: “Its [sic] your job to hold your son/self responsible so he/you don’t hurt my daughters.”

The dozen or so protesters have left the neighborhood. Only reporters, police officers and firefighters remain in the neighborhood.

UPDATE @ 8:10 p.m. (Sept. 2):

A group of protesters has gathered in front of the family home of Brock Turner in Sugarcreek Twp. Some of them are carrying weapons.

A newspaper sat unopened on the driveway as about a dozen protesters and roughly twice as many reporters stood at the neck of the cul de sac. A Cincinnati news chopper circled overhead as a neighbor mowed his lawn.

Father Beats Registered Sex Offender

8-29-16 Texas:

A registered sex offender in Rising Star is in the hospital in intensive care after he was severely beaten by an angry father.

According to Rising Star Police, Dustin Abrams beat Larry Smith Friday night on the 100 block of South Bruce.

Police say Abrams was angry at Smith after he found out about allegations that Smith sexually assaulted Abram's child.

Rising Star Police say there were two witnesses to the alleged sexual assault by Smith.

Abrams is charged with Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury.

He has bonded out of jail on a $15,000 bond.

Ex-Coventry fire chief files lawsuit against prison staff after he’s repeatedly attacked

8-26-16 Connecticut:

The ex-Coventry volunteer fire chief who’s serving a 10-year sentence for having a sexual relationship with a teenaged junior firefighter has filed a lawsuit accusing the staff at the Bridgeport Correctional Center of acting with “deliberate indifference” when they did nothing as another detainee regularly assaulted him.

Joseph Carilli, 56, filed the lawsuit in New Britain Superior Court in February against 14 employees of the state Department of Correction.

In his two-page handwritten complaint, Carilli wrote that in January and February of 2014 when he was held in pretrial detention at the Bridgeport Correctional Center unable to post bond in the sexual assault case another detainee regularly assaulted him.

In the lawsuit, Carilli is seeking monetary relief in the form of $100,000 from each defendant, the retraining of the defendants “to prevent repeated assaults from occurring,” and a written apology from them.

At the time the lawsuit was filed Carilli had already served 19 months of his 10-year sentence and was incarcerated at the Garner Correctional Institution in Newtown. He has since been transferred to the Osborn Correctional Institution in Somers, and it was there that the Journal Inquirer met with him about his lawsuit.

On a recent afternoon Carilli was led by a correctional officer into the visitors’ room at Osborn to meet with a reporter. He was dressed in a beige-colored prison uniform with a white T-shirt underneath, the ensemble seeming a little loose fitting but still holding a bit to his husky frame.

His complaint against certain staff at the Bridgeport Correctional Center is that while he was supposed to be in protective custody while in pretrial detention another detainee assaulted him multiple times in early 2014.

Midtown Inn, mecca for prostitutes, sex offenders, torched by arsonist

For many residents on the city’s Southeast side, the ramshackle rooming house held a terror that would rival that of the Bates Motel, featured in Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1963 tale of terror, “Phycho.”

The inn was a target of controversy in 2009 when the New York State Division of Parole began placing level 2 and level 3 sex offenders there after their release from prison. At one point, sexual predators were housed in the joint, which is located in an otherwise quiet residential neighborhood, 1,500 feet of the city’s Niagara Street Elementary School and less than 200 feet from a church operated day care center.

Citizen complaints led to the involvement of the Niagara Falls Reporter.

The place was the former site of the Zodiac Lounge, the premier blue collar Polish saloon in a neighborhood filled with blue collar Polish saloons. They’d cash your paycheck, serve up a scrumptious fish fry on Friday nights, and everybody had a good time.

As recently as 2002, the Reporter covered a party there at which more than 200 people made it to the Zodiac Lounge on Niagara Street for a community tribute to community activists and tavern owners Bob and Mary Kay Wilson.
